A Special Day to Honor Brave Men and Women

Happy Veteran's Day! As we honor the brave men and women today that have and continue to serve our country my family and I pray that God will continue to watch over them and their families. May we never take for granted the freedom we have. Forever we will be grateful for the freedom that we have because of these special men and women.
To honor these brave men and women a good friend and her sons made this flag to give to different people that they know. What a great idea. Isn't it great!
To honor them in our family we did not make anything. We did however have the kids wear red, white, and blue to and say a prayer for them and their families.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a fabulous day!

Some Goodies and My Adenture on My Day Off

I hope that all of you are doing well. I have not been to doing much crafting/stamping this week. My voice was very hoarse on Wednesday and Thursday. I am glad that it's back today. I was trying to get some extra rest this week in case I was coming time with some thing. Thankfully even though my voice was hoarse I still felt okay.
On Monday I did make a card and gift for my swap sister. It is the swap that Dawn' had sign ups for. I have taken several of her online classes/turtorials and this is my third time joining her swap. I had a great time making a card and 3D project the past 2 times and loved all the stuff that I received from my swaps sisters so I thought it would be fun to participate in another swap. For this round we were asked to send our swap sister a hand stamped card, hand stamped gift, and a candy treat from our country. All accessories and stamps need to from SU. I made my swap sister Michelle that lives in Australia a card,a
pouch full of little Hershey bars, and included a mint chocolate 3 Musketeer.

Here is a close up picture of what I made.

It was so much fun using my new set from Stampin Up (Patterned Pines) for the corners of my cards that matched perfectly with one of their embossing folders-Petals of Plenty. I could not find a SU Christmas greetings big enough for my card. The greeting I was able to find is not a Christmas one but that was the one I was able to find that went with the size of my card. I thought the saying was fine since I stamped "Merry Christmas" inside. What do you think?
Besides making the goodies for my swap for my swap sister I unfortunately did not make anything else this week. I did however receive several of my ATC swaps in the mail. I sign up for some of the swaps from time to time at stamp-shack.com if anyone is interested in signing up for any. Here are the ones that I received. The first ATC in each set is the one that I made. Arent' they great?

These are my Riley the Moose ATCs. These are my monogram themed ones.
These are my monkey themed ATCs. Most of the people that participated in the swap as you can see used the Changito Monkey. He is one of my favorite monkeys.

These are my birthday themed swaps.

Besides receiving some of the ATCs swaps in the mail I received some goodies from my friend Teri. She surprises me from time to time with some a cool card that she has made along with some extra goodies. She did give me a bag full of M&Ms but unfortnately they have been eaten already. They are very yummy! I of course shared them with Benson and the kids. Thanks Teri for your RAK.

Here is a close up picture of the shaker card that she made for.

One last thing before I end this post. This has nothing to do with crafting, but I am sure that those of you reading this post will be interested in knowing that I went to Hello Kitty exhibit in Culver City, Calif. this week on Wednesday in honor of her 35th anniversary on my day off from work with a good friend from church. I know how much many out there like Hello Kitty. (Even though my voice was hoarse I still had a good time.) My friend surprised me with these goodies from the store at the exhibit when she went to there for the first time on the weekend. She is always so sweet surprising me with such fun things. She had so much fun that she had to go again. She remembered that my favorite color is purple so she attached a ribbon with Hello Kitty written in purple. If you click on the picture to make it bigger you can take closer look at the Hello Kitty trinket that she got for me.
This is what I surprised her with. She likes Tokidoki like I do so I decided to give her this cup from Yogurtland (No, I did not eat out of the cup.) full of some of her favorite goodies- A My Melody Pez Dispenser, chocolate bars, and some Hawaiian coconut jello mix. I stamped a tag for it that says "YUM YUM."
Here is picture of the two of us in front of Hello Kitty's house at the exhibit.
It was lots of fun looking at all the cool Hello Kitty items and art pieces.

These are two of my favorites.

They also had a store full of items with her on it as well as a cafe with some food shaped like her face.

That's all I have to share for this time. I have some projects that I need to be completing this month so be sure to stop again soon to check out what I have made.

Surprise! Another Post For This Month

This month continues to be very busy. Despite my packed schedule I am thankful for the time that God has given me to use my hobby of rubber stamping to reach out to others. I also thank Him for how He has used this hobby to give me the opportunity to meet some very nice people some of which I have become very good friends with.
This is an Artist Trading Card online swap that I signed up for that required each person to make a card in the size of a deck of playing cards with a ladybug theme. Each person makes 8 of the same cards and in return gets 8 different ones back. I joined this swap so that I can give the cards to my good friend Sherri who loves ladybugs. Unfortunately the cards did not arrive in time for her birthday. Even though I gave them to her a week late, she was still very happy to receive them. By the way, the second card is the one I designed.
This is a card that I came up with for a swap that I did with a few friends this month. As you can see, I made two versions of the card. I had lots of fun making this card. The stamp is from a set called "Kind and Carding Thoughts" from Stampin Up. I colored in the tips of leaves first with my Memento Dew Drop orange pad and then blotted the rest of the leaves with my Momento Dew Drop red pad. I think the leaves turned out pretty. After putting the card together and stamping the saying on the bottom left corner I realized that having the saying there did not flow with the rest of the card. To make the card look better I decided to trim the card down and put the saying on the bottom middle portion of the card. I was much more pleased with the saying there.
These are two cards that I got from two friends in return for my card. The one on the right is from my friend Susanna and the tag is from my friend Frances. I think both of them did a great job. It's always so much fun exchanging ideas with others.
Along with the card that she made for me Susanna also wrote me a note on a card with Hello Kitty on the front. The card is so cute. She also included a cute purple envelope and a Hello Kitty pen. Thanks Susanna for the extra goodies. You know me so well. She know that I love Hello Kitty and of course she rememebers that one of my favorite colors is purple. Oops! I almost forgot. She also gave me some cookies from Panera. She knows how much I like their cookies and surprises me with a few of them each week when I see her at church.
Here are 2 other cards that I made. The first one is the card that I made for my One Card Swap partner. The second one is a card that I made for a friend that I swap card with each month.

I made this for my boss as part of her gift for Boss's Day using one of my Big Shot dies. She is a huge USC fan so I thought she would like a special pennant that says, "I love USC."
This is what I made for Zachy's kindergarten teacher, TA, and room mom as a special "thank you" for all that they have done for him and his class so far. I filled the candy corns up with mini chocolate bars.
I tied it closed with raffia and attached a tag to it. It had a hard time staying still so I used one of Kylie's princesses to help keep it from moving.
This is the RAK that I surprised my good friend from Hawaii with. It has been so much fun surprising each other with goodies each month. I decided to give her some Halloween rubber stamps and stickers because I know how much she enjoys making treats for her daughters classmates. I also gave her black Momento pad so she can stamp her images and color them with her new Copic markers without the ink smearing. Additionally I sent her 2 cards, a die cut sunflower on a candy stick, a Hello Kitty bumble bee keychain and a jar full of stars that I folded for her. The cards and the stars were made in her favorite colors. I am so glad that my goodies arrived just in time to cheer her up a bit since she was having a pretty rough week last week.
This is what my good friend from Hawaiian surprised me with. She knows how much I love Hawaiian things so she sent me a few things to frame that have the most beautiful prayers and poems that are written in Hawaiian and English. I can't wait to frame them to put in my family room that is decorated with a Hawaiian theme.
She also made a cute card and sent me some cute stamps. Thanks so much my dear friend for such a wonderful package of goodies from your heart. :)
I purchased a card kit from a friend in Hawaii so I sent her a few goodies to accompany the check that I sent to her for the class. I picked out the Halloween stickers for her because I know how much she likes making cards for the holiday. I got the cat paper clip for her because the cat on the clip is so cute just like her cat. When I saw the clip I immediately thought of her cat and had to get it for her. I hope that she liked the goodies that I picked out for her. Along with all the goodies I sent her a party favor and a program from our 10th anniversary wedding celebration.
Last but not least are some extra goodies that I received from a gal named Lorie. I ordered a card kit from her and she sent me the goodies to apologize for the kit taking so long to get to me. I love all the stamped images that she sent to me along with the pretty dew drops. I can't wait to have some time to color the images with my Copics and to use the dew drops. Thanks Lorie for the goodies. There was no need to give them to me, but I am so thankful that you did.
I am glad that I was able to have some time to post another entry this month. Wow! Two posts in one month. This amazes me because I barely have time to have one post during some months. As always, thanks for taking time to visit.

Some Goodies Made, Given, and Received

Happy Fall! It sures feel like Fall here in California. I love the weather so crisp and cool in the morning with the afternoons pretty cool too. Just the kind of weather the kind of weather that I enjoy.
Work has been rather busy so I have been exhausted when I get home. This means that I have not been in the mood to do much stamping. I however, I have worked on a few swaps that I signed up for so that I am sure to mail them in before the deadline. I signed up for two swaps where I was asked to make Christmas tags-one with a snowman theme and the other one a candy cane theme. This is what I came up with. I had an idea of what I wanted to make for a few weeks, but just did not have time to put them onto paper until last week.I think they came out pretty cute. What do you think? I think I may just like them enough to make them for tags for some of the gifts I give out this year. You may be lucky enough to receive one of these tags with your Christmas present in a few months. :)
Here are also two swaps for the "Swap Sister" swap that I signed up for. Each person has the choice of making one card and one 3D item, two cards, or two 3D projects. I signed up for the swap twice- once during the summer and once last month. Both times I choose to make one card and one 3D project for partner. This is what I made for my first "Swap Sister," Christine from Australia.
This is what she made for me. I love the project and matching card. This is what I made for my second "Swap Sister," Isabella from Canada. This is what she made for me. Aren't these cards very creative? I really like the color combinations that she used.
Besides making projects for the swaps that I signed up for, I have also made and put together a few RAKs to send out to some friends. I will be posting pictures of those as soon as they receive them. For now, here are the RAKs that I sent out last month. This one is for my good friend Kris.Kris, I am so glad that my goodies made it to you safely finally. I was beginning to think that it got lost. I am so glad that you liked what I sent to you.
This is what I sent to my girlfriend Teri.

Part of what I sent to her was her belated birthday gift. My aplogies again Teri for it being so late. It's better late than never, right.
This last RAK was to my friend Michelle.

As you have noticed the friends that I have sent RAKS to like Hello Kitty just like me.

Last month I received some very awesome RAK .This is from my good friend Kris. All the cards that she makes are always so creative. Check out all the detail that you put into her cards. She knows that I love Asian and Hawaiian themed cards so she surprised me with 2 very wonderful cards. Along with the cards she also sent me some fun goodies that I love. Thanks Kris for the beautiful cards and the goodies that you sent to me. You are always so thoughtful.
My good friend and co-worker Sandy gave a set of polka dotted file folders to me as a beginning of the school year gift. She knows that I love polka dots. She decorated one of them with my name using her cartridges from her Circut. I love the folders Sandy. Thank you so much for them.My girlfriend Pat sent me these sheets of designer paper
along with a very cute ATC with a monkey on it. She knows that I love monkeys. Thank you so much Pat for surprising me with such an awesome package. I love all paper and the ATC. The paper is much too cute to use.
What a blessing it has been to have such wonderful and thoughtful friends. All of these RAKs have made each of my days so much brighter.
Thanks for taking time to drop by this month. I hope that you have had fun looking at what I have posted and are inspired to make some of your own creations. I look forward to seeing what all of you come up with.

My Swaps and Some RAK

I hope that everyone is doing well. It has been so much fun participating in different swaps and receiving some very cool RAKs.
I have signed up for some ATC swaps throught stamp-shack.com. It's an awesome sight with great ideas and has many swaps that you could sign up for. For the past few month I signed up for probably more than should have. It has kept me busy after the kids have fallen asleep. Benson has often help me cut the cardstock for the ATCs and have even helped me stamp some of the images. It's like old times again before the kids were born. We would spend hours stamping together and chatting away.

Here are some of the ATCs that I have made.
I sign up each month with a gal from Hawaii named Teri where she assigns each person that signs up a person to send a card to. I was asked to send a card to a wonderful gal that lives in Maui named Kris in Aug. We clicked immediately as soon as we started e-mailing each other. We have so much in common both in the area of crafting and in our personal lives. I never knew I had a twin. :) Thanks again Teri for pairing Kris and I up last month.

Here is the card that I made for her. I made it in using her favorite colors and punching out cherry blossoms to put on the card since that is her favorite flower. She made this awesome card for me. Look at all the detail that she put into making the card. She used my favorite colors on the card as well as stamps from one of my favorite Asian stamp companies, Mari and Me. Thanks again Chris for such an awesome card. I love it!
I met a wonderful lady named Cary from a friend from church that is even more crazy about stamping than I am. I thought I had lots of stamps until she showed me her collection in her garage. Every month we have been trading cards. Here are the first two cards that she sent to me. Thanks Cary for the great cards. It's been fun getting to know you better. I took pictures of the cards that I made for her but for some reason am not able to find them. I will share them as soon as I do.Back in July, one of my good friends, Susanna, from church surprised me with this beautiful card where she colored the image with chalk. She included a gift for In and Out and a very touching note in the card. This month she surprised me with a Tokidoki phone zipper and mint tin. She knows how much I like Tokidoki so it definitely brightened up my day when I received the gifts from her. Susanna and her hubby are always so sweet and generous always surprising us with different things. They often give us delicious salads and pastries from Paneras. There generosity and friendship is such a blessing to us.
This is a RAK of kindness that I received from Grace from Hawaii. She was my RAK partner for June. (This is being posted so late because she was not able to mail them to me until Aug. She has gone back to school so it has been extra hectic for her.) She was much too generous in sending me all these goodies.
There are a few things that I have made to send as RAK to some friends, but I will wait a to share them with all of you. I don't want to ruin the surprise for the people that I am sending the RAK to. Thanks for taking time to visit. Please visit again soon.

Finally I Am Back

It was a year from yesterday that I started this blog to share ideas from different people that have been kind enough to send/give me hand stamped items and cards as well as things that I have stamped. Unfortunately a year has gone by and I have not posted any new creative works of art. Of course this does not mean that I have not made anything or received anything for a year. I have signed up for different Random Acts of Kindness (RAKS) and swaps that have given me the opportunity to use my creative juices. In return I have received lots great ideas and have met many new friends some of which I have become good friends with. I continue to thank the Lord for my hobby of stamping to help me to relax even though it is often done very late at night or in the early morning. I also thank Him for how He has used what I have made to be a blessing to to others.
It would take me much too long to post all the cards/projects that I have made so here are only some of them.
I folded these stars during my 4 hour card ride back from our vacation along the coast for our anniversary at the end of July. While Benson and I chatted and listened to Hawaiian music, my fingers were busy folding these stars. I decided to surprise a good friend from church with a container full of the the stars.
This is what I made for the girls in my class at church that I teach on Friday nights as their end of the year gift. Along with some store puchased items, I also made them each a card and book mark.

Here is a close up picture of the card that I made for my class. It was simple card to make, but very time consuming because I had to make 12 of them. Then it took some time to write a personal message in each of them.
This is the card and goodies that I made for some stamping friends that I met on the East Coast. I made it as a special "thank you" to Cathy P. for some goodies that she surprised me with. The other set that I made was for Susan T. for her belated b-day gift. Each one received a card with the die cut of a daisy that I made using my Big Shot along with matching a daisy flower long stem lollipop) and a daisy magnet. (The daisy a die from Sizzix.)

I made these two cards as my swaps for several different trades that I signed up for. I stamped the background of the paper with a leaves and flowers and colord the big flower with Copic markers. (Stamps from for the background and flower are from a set from Stampin Up called "Embrace Life." I have had these markers since April as a gift from my kids for my b-day, but this is the frist time that I have used them at home. They are so much fun to use. Using them to color with makes images look so much more realistic. How do you think I did with my first attempt to using the markers?
I have some good friends that left for church camp today to be couselors for the 3rd to 6th grade kids. I decided to surprise each of them with a gift and a note of encouragement.

Each clipboard was stamped using things that the people liked and of course they were done using their favorite colors. In the center of each one I stamped a verse. The verse is covered by the card.
This is a composition book that I covered with designer paper for one for Pastor Ken who is going to be one of the couselors this week at camp. I made him a matching pen and a book mark. (I used the left over paper and rolled it up to put inside an RSVP pen.) (The die cut is the Top Notch Die from Stampin Up and the stamps I used are from a company called Our Daily Bread.)

I wrote a card of encouragement and stamped Hello Kitty images on a piece of paper and rolled it up to put in the pen for my friend Anna. She likes Hello Kitty just as much as I do.
This is what I sent to my Aloha RAK kindness partner this month, Tracy H. in Canada. We were actually matched up with each other once before last year in September. I hope that she likes what I made and purchased for her. The handstamped item with her initial on it is a magnetic book mark.
Here are some of the awesome cards/projects and purchased gifts that I have received. I truly appreciate all the people that have sent me goodies and have loved all of them. I of course am not able to post all the goodies that I have received. Just because you do not see a picture of what you sent to me does not mean that I did not like it.
These are the items and ATCs that I received from my first secret sister from the Stamp-Shack- Terry H. We are asked to fill out a questionaire and our SS is asked to pick things to send us for 3 months that we like. All the goodies that she sent to me were awesome. God allowed her packages to all arrive on the right days to brighten up my long days after work. :) Thanks again Terry for being such an awesome, thoughtful, and generous SS.

All these goodies and cards were given to me by my second SS- Patty T. Boy, am I fortunate...I always get such generous and thoughtful SS. Patty told me in one of her e-mails that she felt like she was shopping for herself when she picked out the items for me. Thanks again Patty for all your awesome gifts.
Just as a little "thank you" to Terry and Patty, I sent them each a stamped card with a giftcard to one of their favorite stores.

Above are the cards that I received from the Stamp-Shack Flood swap. I was chosen as one of the people to be showered with cards in July. It was like Christmas receiving all the cards. All the cards that I received were wonderful. (In the first box the following people made the cards for me- from left to right: Amy S., Sarah P., Kathy M., Nancy A.,Angie R., Joanie A., and Jennifer E.) (In the second box from left to right-Becky R., Marie J,.Joan P., Jeanne S., Sherri T., and Joan L.) (Last box from left to right-Debbie G., Cheryl P.,Vicky M., Sally B.,Pene, and Jennifer W.)

These are the cards that I received so far for Teri's One Card Swap. Each month you are assigned with a partner and you are asked to send each other a hand made card. Aren't all of these just so great. (The gals that made these cards from left to right are as follows: Joni H, Manlo H., Leanne, Penny M, Ilissa W., and Janice.)
Here are the Aloha RAK that I have received. A gal named Jennifer that lives in Hawaii has sign ups each month and partners us with a different person to send goodies to. It has been so much fun making things for others and receiving things too. I have been participating in this for a little more than a year. Aren't all the goodies that I received pretty nice?

This is from Michelle U.Before I end I would like to share some of the crafts that I have prepared for the girls in my class at church on Friday nights to do to show their love to others. All the girls in my class are very creative and did very well in making the projects. I am a little sad that the church year with this set of girls is over. I truly thank the Lord for each one of them and pray that God was able to use me this past year to help them have a deeper relationship with God. Here is a picture of my class. Two girls were absent.

These are the gifts that my class made for the 6th grade promotion from our fellowship group. I taught them how to emboss a light house for the bookmark and taught them how to cut a sun flower using the scallop punch. They were all amazed at what they made. All of the wanted me to make the bookmark, but we did not have time to. So I surprised them each with one as part of their end of the year gift. Besides making the above things, they also decorated a frame for Mother's Day, made a goodie bag with a Hawaiin topper and a card shaped like a Hawaiian shirt for Father's Day, and a bookmark with a Chinese girl on it to remind them that they are wonderfully and fearfully made. They also wrote letters and drew pictures for a Lt. that is stationed in Cuba as a doctor. Her mother is one of the people that I have met through stamping. She gave me information regarding her daughter as well as pictures of her to show the girls. The girls so happy to get a chance to write to her. I put all their letter and pictures in an accordion book. It was huge.
Thanks for your patience in waiting for me to post again. I hope that from now on I will be able to post every month with some fun projects to share.
Be sure to come by and check once in awhile to see if I have posted anything new.

RAK Number Two

I had so much fun participating in the RAK club in June that I decided to participate in it again in July. This time I was asked to make some thing for Angie. I made her a goodie bag using one of my favorite stamps and made her a matching card. I also sent her some beads, ribbon, and some stamped images to color to make a card.

Angie surprised me with a container and pen made using matching designer paper. (Sorry I downloaded the wrong picture. This picture does not have the pen that she made for me.) She also made me magnet with a Bibe verse and a card. They are all so cute. Best of all she filled the container with some yummy candy. :) I really liked the magnet too with a Bible verse on it. It will be great on my file cabinet in my classroom. Thanks again Angie for the what you made for me. I love them all.
